CANON Voltron - Legendary Defender
CANON POINT Season 2, Episode 7 Space Mall. After going through the Black Lion’s challenge and facing off against Zarkon within the field of the mind. Unless I can update his canon point to Season 2 - Episode 8 - The Blade of Marmora: end of the episode.
HISTORY: Voltron: Legendary Defender Offical Site Shiro’s history
PERSONALITY:
This personality section covers both seasons with some examples past the canon pull point.

“The Black Lion is the decisive head of Voltron. It will take a pilot who is a born leader, and in control at all times, someone whose men will follow without hesitation. That’s why Shiro will pilot the Black Lion.” - Allura, Episode 1, season 1.

There’s no better description of Shiro. He is a natural leader. Within the first few minutes of meeting his future team they are planning a mission to uncover the energy source in the desert and carrying it out. He’s straight forward and serious, telling people exactly what he feels is the best course of action. For example, he doesn’t sugar coat the alien threat to Earth. But he isn’t without kindness. On countless occasions he has talked to Keith after Keith has had an angry outburst. When Katie (Pidge) was worried about her family he shared in her frustrations and grief, but kept the secret of her identity. All of his team are also his family, the most important people in his world. He believes in them and gives them the support they need to succeed and be everything he can see they could be.

To be a good leader more than belief is necessary. Over the course of both seasons, Shiro has displayed a number of these requirements. He listens to the input of other people and takes their skills into account. He only ever serves as a guide, keeping the team on course and binding them into one fighting force. In turn they look to him to accurately judge their capabilities and come up with plans that make the most of them. Even that wouldn’t be enough if he didn’t have the self discipline to keep his own emotions in check. No matter what’s going on, he can still focus on the goals ahead of him.

Yet, Shiro isn’t without his own problems. He suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder a condition that can fracture or shatter control when the person affected is faced with stimulus that is similar to the source of trauma. It can be words, surroundings and even smells. As is common with PTSD he has flashbacks that sometimes slowed him down or made him pause. He usually takes these in stride. But the most notable instances are Sendak’s psychological warfare while Sendak is in stasis and when Shiro faces off against Haggar. In both cases he starts to lose control and blindly lashes out. Clearly in a panic in both cases he attempts to remove the source of trauma. He ejected Sendak from the ship to get rid of him. This is another common symptom of PTSD. While in the grips of a PTSD attack, choices are made based on emotion and are very irrational. I promise to treat this subject very carefully. But unless certain stimuli come up Shiro will power through any moments and focus on what needs to be done.

“Just remember, patience yields focus.” - Shiro to Keith in Episode 1.

The advice Shiro gives Keith is something he himself embodies. He’s extremely patient. Lance’s goof ball moments and talk of girls is only contained when Shiro feels like they’re getting off track. He calmly settles any spats, insecurities, and freak outs had by the people around him. Time and time again he’s calmed the group down so they can focus. When the group all got into arguments about what to do when the Galra attacked Arus he quieted the team and turned everyone’s focus on Allura who knew the lions best. When Allura is captured later in the first season he accepts his own failure and locks eyes on fixing what went wrong. Behavior like this is why his Lion trusts him to pilot it.

Shiro's patience does have a limit. When someone like Slav has a number of seemingly ridiculous excuses not to continue moving during a mission. He loses his temper. Twice. His military background and straight forward way of looking at the world makes him less sensitive towards tightly wound individuals. But he isn't without a sense of humor. He joined in on a squishy asteroid fight, laughed at fart jokes, and had his own silly opinion about laser sounds. Sometimes his jokes fall flat, like when he remarked to Keith he was fine but his wound was getting bigger all the time. Not funny, Shiro.

“Okay, enough with the bad sound effects. Besides, it’s more like — blam, blam, blam!” - Shiro, Season 1, Episode 7: his remark about laser sounds.

In closing, Takashi ‘Shiro’ Shirogane despite his flaws continues to be the strong individual worthy of leading his team. He can adapt and form strategic plans on the fly, making him a deadly foe to face off against. His kindness and ability to connect with others helps him be a force that guides others to forge them into one and to succeed at their own individual hurdles. He plays to his strengths, helps others develop theirs, and will push himself to the limit when he’s needed. As a friend, ally, or as a leader, he will always be able to inflame the spirit of others and continue towards his chosen goals.

CANON POWERS: Paladin of Voltron: All Paladins of the robotic Voltron Lions share a psychic link with their lion. A lion communicates and feeds ideas to the pilot, improving their ability to operate them. As the pilot grows more proficient and has a deeper bond, there are a number of benefits. It is possible for a Voltron Paladin to see through the eyes of their lion with enough practice. But they have to shut their own eyes to do it. Lions will guide a pilot to use a U shaped weapon called the Bayard that serves as a key within the lion to open greater powers. As of his canon point, Shiro lacks the bayard to do such a thing. But his bond with the Black Lion is strong enough they can connect over vast distances and come to each other’s aid.

Alien Tech: The alien race known as the Galra experimented on Shiro replacing his arm with a mechanical prosthetic. It grants him beyond human strength. He could toss around large beasts with it fairly easily. The hand can be charged with energy at will. Shiro has sealed metal doors together and even carved his way into a space battle cruiser’s hull. Frequently he uses it like a super-heated sword. There is no known drawbacks to using it. His arm also allows him to access Galra technology but gives away who is accessing the information. He’s still tagged as Prisoner.
OTHER: Uh. Hi? I don't think there's anything else to add.

GAME INFO;

CRAU INFO:

Game Info: Spellbind was a world hopping exploration game where a witch captured people and bound them with her magic to help her restore herself. Her attendants were shady and left as much in the dark as the player characters. Shiro served as part of the leadership of the coven, but more in an advisory sense. He spent several months getting used to changing shape to fight. He changed in the following ways due to his time there.

Personality changes: Spellbind caused a few changes to Shiro’s mindset but not many. He was only there for a few months but it’s worth noting how the game affected him. As a junior member of the Coven he kept out of the leadership positions, lending only his advice. Shiro isn’t the sort of person to upset a power structure that’s already in place unless he feels it is unjust. He sought to strengthen the man in charge, Jay. He relaxed into the role of an adviser and teacher. It let him take on piles of work without worrying about how he might be needed for one thing or another. This and the size of the coven itself let him fall back into a slightly more laid back attitude of offering advice and guiding others without feeling the pressure to make every decision.

It is possibly the closest to his precapture self he has ever been. But nice as relaxing was it let him get more reckless. As a shapeshifter he can shift into a sturdier shape. His muscle memory in a fight converts to he can take hits so no one else has to. Even in human form this mindset is prevalent. Not just because of the Coven, many of the coven were non-combatants. His desire to protect those around him is stronger and he’ll put himself in harm’s way without thinking twice no matter how capable seeming his comrades are.

He was a paranoid man before, but after Shehui…Shiro’s paranoia and uneasy at situations he feels helpless in got worse. He can endure it but it puts a lot of stress on him. He won’t lash out or snap, the threshold for that is extremely high, but he will force himself to internalize all his emotions in a very unhealthy manner of not dealing with it. Some progress has been made to open up to others in situations like his own, but it is done without really talking about it. Yet this method is effective. It eases up the pressure he feels and allows him to focus completely on what needs done.

MAGIC ABILITY: For twelve hours a day, Shiro will be able to become this form downsized to about the size of a large pick-up truck. If allowed, he can use mouth and tail lasers downgraded to needing two to three shots before it takes anything out. If allowed, Jawblade capable of being summoned three times a day. If none are allowed, that’s fine. If one has to be picked, I’ll go with lasers. Every time he changes, he’ll be subject to whatever point in the timer he left off during the course of one day.

The longer he stays in it, the more overwhelming and alien it will feel. His emotions will be harder and harder to control and he’ll be unable to think well as he approaches the upper limit. While in the form of the Black Lion, he will be unable to speak normally. He will have to use telepathy. When the timer ends, he will be forced back into human form and paralyzed for fifteen minutes. Any attempt to go over the limit will cause a shock painful enough to drop him to his knees.

While in the form, he’s sturdier and faster than his human body, think of one of those old tanks of a car. Shiro will have to learn how to move, fight, and fly all on his own. There will be nothing to guide him. With mastery he will be able fly and move while carrying another person. Injuries to either body carry over, if he’s hurt in lion form that translates to his human body vice versa. It takes a great deal of energy to maintain lion form. Even one transformation for a short while will be enough to put him out of a fight for a while.

After the first time, he will probably nap. It will get easier and only put him out of action for an hour or so at mastery. He will not be able to hold it for more than fifteen minutes at best by the end of the first month. Even at mastery he likely won’t be able maintain it for more than a few hours at a time.
Note: He has mastery by now, but adjusting to any changes will take time. There will be mishaps.
ANY WEAPONS/MAGICAL ITEMS?: I’d like his Galra tech arm to serve as his weapon. If not, the sharp jawblade taken from the Shehui facility capable of being used in Black Lion form and sharp enough to cut through steel.
