[there's a nondescript package left by Shiro's apartment door. the note is unsigned, but if he's ever seen Vern's spiky, messy handwriting, Vern didn't bother to disguise it. I hope you're doing better, it says.

inside is a big, doofy looking beanie-baby style cat doll, with wings sewn on. it looks like it's just a troll gift, but there's a hard lump inside the body, and when he turns it over, there's a velcro seam.

inside the doll is a fairly solid multitool in a stiffened hide case. now that's more like it!]
